Mice with hind legs paralysed learned to walk again after a single injection of synthetic nanofibres

Mice with spinal cord injuries that left their hind legs completely paralysed learned to walk again after a single injection of synthetic nanofibres that scientists say could revolutionise treatments for the condition.

The therapy is based on designer molecules that mimic the natural environment of the spinal cord and send signals to trigger cells to repair and regenerate. The team behind the work hope to begin patient trials within two years.
