Komarov leaves Islanders, signs in KHL
Leo Komarov has left the New York Islanders and signed with the KHL's SKA Saint Petersburg, the veteran forward confirmed on social media.

"Toughest decision I ever made in my career ... to leave all my teammates and trainers who have been like a family to me for the last three years," Komarov wrote. "It hurts me more than anyone could think. Let's put all the rumors away. I made this decision myself. Nobody else did it for me."
Komarov has been with the Islanders since the beginning of the 2018-19 season. He had one year left on his contract with a $3-million cap hit. New York placed Komarov on unconditional waivers Saturday in order to terminate his contract, according to The Athletic's James Mirtle.
The 34-year-old has skated in 491 NHL contests with the Islanders and Toronto Maple Leafs, gathering 63 goals and 107 assists. He also skated in 59 playoff games, recording nine points.
