Hamilton police are investigating an early morning shooting on Hamilton's east Mountain.

Police were called just after 1 a.m. Monday, Nov. 15, to Upper Kenilworth Avenue and Mohawk Road East for reports of gunshots.

Evidence at the scene confirmed a shooting had occurred, police said. However, anyone involved had already fled before officers arrived.

There are no known injuries, police said. This includes police checking area hospitals.

The investigation has been taken over by the Mountain criminal investigation branch.

Detectives are asking residents in the area to check security cameras for any suspicious activity and contact police.

This incident marks the 30th shooting in Hamilton so far this year. There have been 17 victims shot, including seven deaths.

The latest shooting comes just a day after a deadly shooting, also on the east Mountain.

Emergency services were called to Raoabe Restaurant, a halal eatery and lounge in an Upper Ottawa Street strip plaza, around 2:30 a.m. Nov. 14. Inside, police found a 26-year-old victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead in hospital.

Anyone with information in Monday's shooting is asked to call 905-546-3851.
