Dell laptop freezes intermittently

I've had this issue for quite a while but it seems to be occurring more often, making it that much more annoying. My laptop will just freeze, mouse won't move, keyboard commands don't do anything. It's a Dell Inspiron 15 5000. I have Windows on it, but rarely boot to it, so I can't say that it only happens in Linux because I'm not there often enough to experience it. I can say that it's persisted thru multiple Linux OSes though. I've used Fedora, Ubuntu and Neon, and experienced the issue in each.
In Windows I have used Dell's hardware test application, which tests video cards, memory and other stuff, all returning multiple times with no issue found. The laptop is not overheating because the fans are not kicking in when the freeze occurs. This can happen when I'm browsing the web, watching videos, or when the computer is idle. I can play hardware intensive games when the fans are blowing on high and not have the issue.
I've tried looking at the logs but it seems that they just stop logging till after reboot. Any ideas on how to figure this out, besides sending it into Dell? They'd probably tell me Linux isn't supported and they can't help.
