Former Hamilton pastor charged with possession of child pornography

A former pastor at a Baptist church in Hamilton is facing a child pornography charge.

Joshua David Conroy, 46, of Hamilton was arrested on Wednesday, Nov. 17. He is charged with possession of child pornography.

Conroy is a former pastor of Elliott Heights Baptist Church on Fennell Avenue East, just west of Mountain Brow Boulevard.

Hamilton police said the investigation began in August 2021 when they received a cybertip from the Canadian Centre for Child Protection.

During the investigation police seized computer devices that were examined.

Conroy had stopped working at the church before the alleged incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
