Lions' Goff to return for Thanksgiving game vs. Bears
Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff will return for Thursday's game against the Chicago Bears, the team announced.
Lions head coach Dan Campbell previously hinted that Goff was likely to play after he missed Detroit's 13-10 loss to the Cleveland Browns last weekend with an oblique injury.
Goff, 27, was sidelined after sustaining the ailment during the Lions' 16-16 tie with the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 10.
The two-time Pro Bowler returned to practice this week as a limited participant. He was listed as questionable ahead of the holiday showdown.
Tim Boyle lined up under center with Goff out against Pittsburgh. The backup struggled in his first career start, tallying 77 passing yards and two interceptions.
Goff noted Tuesday that his health is improving.
"I feel good, better every day," Goff said, according to team reporter Tim Twentyman. "We'll see. I don't know what (Campbell) has said, but I'd categorize it as a game-day decision. Feel good though. Really good."
The Lions own the league's 30th-rated passing offense with an average of 197 passing yards per game.
Chicago, meanwhile, announced that veteran Andy Dalton will start in place of Justin Fields after the rookie suffered a rib injury in the Bears' 16-13 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
