The Minnesota Vikings placed defensive end Everson Griffen on the non-football illness reserve, the team announced Friday, days after an incident at the 33-year-old's home.

Griffen posted a since-deleted Instagram video that showed him in his house holding a gun and saying people were trying to kill him. He called 911 at 3 a.m. Wednesday and told a dispatcher he'd fired a weapon but no one was injured.

Police and mental health professionals went to his house Wednesday morning but weren't able to locate an intruder. Griffen refused to leave his house for several hours. The Vikings later announced he "is getting the care he needs."

He'll be sidelined for at least three games after being placed on reserve, according to Adam Caplan of SiriusXM.
