TV overscan
by questionderby from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5SDR8)
Hi! So I have an HDTV(?), and I wanted to hook up my pc to it. I have Debian Linux 11 running on my pc right now, and an AMD Radeon HD 5450 for the gpu. I connected the two using HDMI. When I turned it on, the edges were cut off. I searched high and low and found that it was caused by something called overscan, and that I was supposed to fix it on the TV settings. I looked, and saw no overscan option in my tv settings. So I tried searching another way, and found that I can set underscan on with xrandr on a few forums. However, when I turned it on (Code:xrandr --output HDMI-number --set underscan on), nothing changed. I saw the underscan option in Archwiki, and that I had to enter numbers for vborder and hborder(https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Xra...rscan_property). I did so, and literally nothing changed again.
I have xf86-video-radeon and the needed firmware installed. Here's the output for HDMI-0, xrandr --prop:
Code:Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1920 x 1080, maximum 8192 x 8192
HDMI-0 connected 1920x1080+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 16mm x 9mm
