Snow: Winter weather advisory issued for Hamilton
If you've got tickets to the Ticats game Sunday afternoon, be prepared to bundle up.
Environment Canada has issued the first winter weather travel advisory of the season for a large swath of southern Ontario, including Hamilton.
Two waves of snow are expected to fall over the city starting Saturday evening into Sunday evening, according to the national weather agency.
The first band of snow is forecast to move across the area Saturday evening and hang around through early Sunday morning. Hamiltonians can expect to wake up to a lawn covered in the white stuff as two centimetres are predicted to fall before it tapers off.
After a short intermission, another swath of snow is expected to fall from Sunday morning through to Sunday evening, adding an additional two to four cm.
Folks living on the escarpment may see higher snowfall amounts, said Environment Canada.
Skies over Steeltown will be cloudy, winds will be light and temperatures are expected to reach a high of 1 C. There is also a risk of freezing drizzle on Sunday morning.
Motorists should prepare for precarious winter driving conditions and adjust travel plans as necessary. Poor weather conditions can also contribute to delays, as roadways may become icy and slippery.
