Carrie Meek, daughter of Black sharecroppers who blazed path to Congress, dies aged 95

Carrie Meek, who died on Sunday, was remembered as a trailblazer, a descendent of enslaved people who became one of the first Black Floridians elected to Congress since Reconstruction.

The late congressman John Lewis had another way of describing her.
