Sirianni says Hurts has 'sore' ankle, hopeful QB will play vs. Jets
Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said Monday that quarterback Jalen Hurts has a sore ankle, which could sideline him against the New York Jets in Week 13, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.
Sirianni said he's hopeful Hurts will be available to play, adding that he'll provide an update on the signal-caller's status when Philly returns to practice Wednesday.
Hurts suffered the injury during Sunday's 13-7 loss to the New York Giants. He recorded his worst performance of the year versus New York, tossing only 129 yards with no touchdowns against three interceptions.
Overall, the second-year passer has completed 60.1% of his pass attempts for 2,435 yards and 13 touchdowns versus eight picks this season. He's 5-7 as a starter.
The 2020 second-round pick also leads Philadelphia with 695 rushing yards and eight scores on the ground this year.
The Eagles' quarterback depth chart features Gardner Minshew, who joined the team via a trade from the Jacksonville Jaguars in August.
Philly sits second in the NFC East.
