internal mail system within lan
by aagaag from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5SYGB)
I have used iredmail (postfix) to set up a mail server connected to the web address of "mail.myexternalsite.com". Port 25 is forwarded to the postfix server that has internal address 10.10.10.8. That works well and I can both send and receive emails from the web.
In addition, I have an internal DNS zone that is called "*.lan". Now, what I would like to do is to set up an additional mail domain which should be exclusively internal. Let's call it "iredmail.lan".
However, now I am completely lost. I have a DNS server which resolves "house.lan" to a specific web server with an internal IP address, and that works also well. The mail server has IP address 10.10.10.8 resolved by the internal DNS server to "iredmail.lan" and resides on a different virtual machine. It is unclear to me which statements I need to put into "main.cf", the main configuration file of postfix, in order to send mails to users on the "mail.lan" domain.
