No reports of injuries in shooting near Centre on Barton: Hamilton Police
Hamilton police are investigating after shots were fired near Centre on Barton Saturday evening.
Staff Sgt. Steve Hahn said police responded to a call for a shooting in the Barton Street East and Ottawa Street North area at 8:50 p.m. Sunday. A suspect or suspects in one vehicle are understood to have shot at another vehicle, he said.
There are no reports of injuries and no one was taken to hospital. There are lots" of witnesses and bullet holes were found in the one vehicle, Hahn said.
It's not clear if anyone was in the vehicle that was shot at.
In a tweet at around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, police said it is early in the investigation" and residents should expect a heavy police presence in the area.
This comes after an early Sunday morning shooting in which a male suspect attacked and shot a man who was sleeping on church steps downtown. The victim was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
