Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan isn't going to make a spur-of-the-moment decision on Urban Meyer amid reports of tension between the head coach and members of the organization.

"I want to do the right thing for the team. I want to do the right thing for the city," Khan said Monday, according to ESPN's Michael DiRocco. "That, to me, is way more important than just acting helter-skelter on emotion. I think we have a history of really looking at the facts and then really doing the right thing."

Khan pointed to his track record of being patient with previous head coaches, though he added the situation surrounding Meyer is different than those in the past.

The owner's comments come after a report emerged Saturday claiming the head coach had multiple run-ins with players and staff. These incidents apparently included a dispute with wide receiver Marvin Jones, which reportedly resulted in him briefly leaving the facility, and Meyer calling his assistant coaches losers.

Meyer denied the report after the Jaguars' 20-0 loss to the Tennessee Titans while also threatening to fire anyone caught leaking information to the media.

The ordeal is just the latest in what's been a turbulent season for the first-time NFL coach. Meyer also faced questions earlier this campaign when a video of him at a bar with a woman who wasn't his wife went viral.

Khan explained that he won't be "impulsive" when it comes to making a call on Meyer's future.

"I learned that a long time ago with anything that's this important. You don't want to be impulsive," Khan said. "You want to look at exactly what I know first-hand or people are telling me and then collect that and do the right thing."

The Jaguars suffered their fifth straight loss to fall to 2-11 on Sunday. The offense has noticeably struggled, while No. 1 overall pick Trevor Lawrence has thrown more interceptions (14) than touchdowns (9).
