[SOLVED] Filesystem as a file encryption
by SlowCoder from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5T4DY)
Last time I dealt with personal encryption was truCrypt on Windows, before they had that big back door kerfuffle a few years ago. truCrypt was a friendly solution. It allowed me to create an encrypted filesystem as a file, and set a password. Then all I had to do was click the file and it would prompt password to access. Pretty simple.
I know there are multiple encryption apps for Linux that encrypt drive, partition or individual file. What I'm looking for is a changeable filesystem as a file, not an encrypted drive or partition, and nothing that has to be manually mounted. Are there any that are as easy to use in the Linux gui?
I know, it sounds very newbie-ish, but I'm looking for a time-efficient solution that can be used by multiple non-techie people.
EDIT: You know how when you read stuff, and the solution doesn't present, then you ask in a forum, and suddenly the solution is right in front of you, and you now feel like a fool? Yeah ... that's me right now.
Looks like Veracrypt might be the answer I was looking for.
