Driver dead, passenger ‘fighting for their life’ after crash south of Brantford
One person has died and another suffered life-threatening injuries following a crash south of Brantford Saturday night.
Just after 10 p.m. Saturday, Brant County Ontario Provincial Police and other first responders were called to a collision involving two sports utility vehicles on Highway 24 South," said OPP Acting Sgt. Ed Sanchuk in a video posted to Twitter.
Sanchuk said the two vehicles were travelling on the Brant County highway, north of Oakland, when they collided." No other information is available about the circumstances of the crash.
The driver of one SUV was pronounced deceased on scene," Sanchuk said. And the passenger of the same vehicle was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injures, and then to Hamilton hospital for further treatment, the OPP said in a media release.
The driver of the other SUV was taken to a Norfolk hospital with minor injuries.
At the time, police closed Highway 24 between Elliott Road and Oakland Road for the investigation, the road reopened just after 7 a.m. Sunday
Sanchuk offered condolences to the family, first responders and the passenger in hospital fighting for their life."
The victim's identity is being withheld as the family is being notified.
