Report: Giants set to retain Judge, Jones for 2022

The New York Giants plan to bring back head coach Joe Judge and quarterback Daniel Jones for the 2022 season, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

As previously reported, general manager Dave Gettleman is expected to step down after four seasons, Schefter added.

Should New York's new general manager want a hire his own head coach, team ownership will reportedly "convey its preference to keep Judge," writes Schefter.

The 4-10 Giants are in the midst of their second losing season in two years under Judge and have only made one playoff appearance (2016) since winning the Super Bowl in 2011.

Jones, 24, is out for the remainder of the season after suffering a back injury.

Jake Fromm is apparently set to take over from Mike Glennon and make his first NFL start Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Jones has been inconsistent and turnover-prone in three seasons as a starter after New York drafted him sixth overall in 2019. He completed 64.3% of his passes for 2,428 yards and 10 touchdowns against seven interceptions in 11 starts this season.

The Giants must decide this offseason whether to pick up Jones' fifth-year option or allow him to enter 2022 on the final year of his deal.
