Many turned away at GO-VAXX bus site in Burlington as province switches to appointments
Dozens of people were turned away at a GO-VAXX vaccination pop-up clinic in Burlington Monday morning after the province switched to an appointment-only system Saturday.
With some people arriving as early as 6 a.m., close to 100 people lined up in the cold outside the Burlington Centre mall to get their COVID-19 vaccine. However, only those with appointments were able to receive their shots, as many were unaware of the requirement to have an appointment. The frustrated group left the area peacefully.
The bus has been making the rounds across Ontario, creating informal pop-up vaccine clinics for those who want them.
According to the province, delivery of the vaccines through the popular GO-VAXX mobile bus clinics has been modified with an appointment-based approach for the safety of the public and staff.
The GO-VAXX bus will be available at Oakville Place on Tuesday between 9:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Another bus will be at Milton Mall from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the same day. To book an appointment, call 1-833-943-3900.
