Newborn baby left at side of the road leads to charges for Kitchener woman
KITCHENER - A woman is facing charges after a newborn baby was reportedly left outside a home in the Rockway neighbourhood of Kitchener.
On Monday at around 11 a.m., Waterloo Regional Police responded to multiple calls about a baby that had been abandoned in a stroller at the side of the road by a home in the area of Dixon and Eckert streets.
A passerby was threatened when attempting to stop the woman who was seen leaving the infant, police said. Several other people assisted police in locating the woman.
The newborn was found safe and was assessed by Region of Waterloo Paramedic Services.
A 32-year-old Kitchener woman was arrested and charged with abandon child, utter threats to cause death and breach probation. She's scheduled to appear in court Feb. 7.
