Burrow to rest in Week 18, Mixon on COVID-19 list
The Cincinnati Bengals will take on the Cleveland Browns in Week 18 without quarterback Joe Burrow, and running back Joe Mixon could be unavailable due to COVID-19 protocols.
Burrow will rest ahead of the playoffs after throwing for 4,611 yards and 34 touchdowns in his first full NFL season. The 25-year-old said Wednesday his knee - which he injured late against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 17 - isn't an issue.
"My knee would be good enough to play," he told reporters, according to The Athletic's Paul Dehner Jr.
Mixon tested positive for COVID-19. He could clear protocols by game day as a vaccinated player, but travel logistics would make it difficult for him to play, head coach Zac Taylor said, according to ESPN's Ben Baby.
Mixon, 25, is coming off a 19-touch, 86-yard outing against the Chiefs. He'll finish the regular season with 1,205 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground if he doesn't play against the Browns.
Cincinnati sent five other players - Vonn Bell, Akeem Davis-Gaither, Trey Hendrickson, Trey Hopkins, and Quinton Spain - to the COVID-19 reserve Tuesday.
The Bengals clinched the AFC North with their monumental victory over the Chiefs in Week 17. They hold the No. 3 seed in the AFC entering the final week.
