Woman seriously hurt in crash after driver goes wrong way on Claremont Access
A woman in her mid-60s was seriously hurt in a head-on crash after a driver went the wrong way up the Claremont Access on Tuesday night.
Hamilton police were called to the crash just before 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 4 for a report of a driver going up the downbound lanes of the Claremont.
He swerved to miss several cars, apparently without attempting to turn around, police said, adding he then struck a vehicle head-on.
The driver of the downbound vehicle, a woman in her mid-60s, was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the upbound vehicle, a man in his early 20s, is charged with dangerous driving causing bodily harm.
Impairment was not a factor in the crash, police said.
