Person dead after industrial accident at Stelco

A person has died after succumbing to injuries in an industrial accident at Stelco.

Hamilton Fire Department crews responded to Stelco's Hilton Works on Wilcox Street at Industrial Drive just after 11 a.m., Jan. 15. Firefighters de-energized the equipment and removed the patient from the machine, said assistant deputy chief Ryan Coburn.

The department crews then attempted life-saving measures with Hamilton paramedics. The patient was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, Coburn said.

The Ministry of Labour will be notified, he added.
