Hamilton area schools closed again Tuesday and other cancellations to know

Hamilton public and Catholic schools remain closed Tuesday, for the second day as the area continues to clean up after Monday's blizzard.
The school boards said buses cannot run due to current weather and unsafe road conditions. In-person schools are cancelled, as well as child care centres and remote/eLearning programming.
All Halton and Niagara public and Catholic schools also remain closed Tuesday.
McMaster University and Mohawk College are open Tuesday, with scheduled classes, labs, studios and events both in-person and remote running as scheduled. Niagara College is also open as usual.
Hamilton's YWCA has closed all child care locations again Tuesday.
The BGC Hamilton-Halton is also closed Tuesday with all in-person programs including child care cancelled.
Let's give it one more day," says Sgt. Kerry Schmidt of the OPP, in a tweet.
I wish I could tell you we had good news and everything was wide open and we were doing well. They are not doing well," Schmidt said about Ontario's highways.
Schmidt added that road conditions aren't great and traffic is building with backups likely a bigger problem today than yesterday with blowing snow affecting traction on the highways.
Hamilton garbage pick up is back on the streets Tuesday, after being cancelled on Monday. The city said that if Monday was your garbage day and you were missed, you can put two bags out on your next pick up day which will be Jan. 24.
Environment Canada is calling for flurries Tuesday morning with a daytime high of -3 C.
