Hamilton will reopen arenas, recreation centres and museums in the coming weeks as it gradually lifts COVID-19 restrictions.

The city said in a release arenas will open to the public with capacity limits on Jan. 31, with public programming resuming in a phased approach.

Recreation centres will reopen for drop-in aquatic and gym programming on Feb. 7. Schedules for programs such as open swim, length swim and open gym will be available by Feb. 4, the city said, while water fit programming will resume Feb. 21. Residents are required to reserve a spot 25 hours before a program begins.

Senior centres and clubs will also open Feb. 7.

The Dundurn National Historic Site, the Hamilton Military Museum, and the Hamilton Museum of Steam and Technology will open Feb. 1, while all other museums will remain closed due to public health measures and staff shortages, the city said.

The city said additional information is expected to be added to its website in the coming days.
