Price: $1,100,000
Neighbourhood: Stoney Creek
Features: Located in Winona near the edge of the Niagara escarpment, this property is one of just a handful on the market in the area around Fifty Road.
With three bedrooms and two bathrooms, the home - which sits on about half an acre of land - would be ideal for a family that appreciates character" and wants more space," said Randy Andrejciw, salesperson with Bradbury Estate Realty Inc. in Burlington.
It's basically a park, a cottage and a house all in one," said Andrejciw. The pandemic has put a new emphasis on outdoor space."
The original portion of the home was built in 1870 and features the original pine floors, decorative gables and stone mantel fireplace - but the house has also seen various upgrades, said Andrejciw.
The kitchen, roof and windows, as well as the furnace, air conditioner and hot water tank have all been replaced in the past decade. And the same family has resided in the home since 1986.
They have maintained this house amazingly," said Andrejciw. There are not too many 150-plus-year-old homes that are bone dry in the basement."
Andrejciw said in the backyard, there is both a pergola as well as a gazebo built for hosting. There is also ample space for a pool to be installed.
One thing that makes the listing stand out is the hobby room with its large model train display, said Andrejciw.
As of right now, the current owner plans to take the contents of the room with him, but if a prospective buyer is interested, they could come to kind of an agreement."
It's a phenomenal property," he said. It's truly one of a kind."
Why is it priced this way? Andrejciw said the price of the home was influenced by recent sales in the neighbourhood and the growing popularity of spacious living.
Earlier this month, a home in the area sold for $1.6 million while a handful of other houses on Highway 8 sold in the $900,000 range last year.
It's not a cookie-cutter house," said Andrejciw. It's more than fairly priced."
