STORM CLOSURES: Hamilton area cancellations for Friday

Winter has packed a wallop and Hamilton is digging out from its wake on this Friday morning.

Environment Canada has cancelled a snowfall warning, but area highways and roads are covered. An extreme cold warning is in place. Some schools and community events are still cancelled.

Here are Friday's cancellations, closures and updates

Schools

Hamilton Catholic board, HWCDSB

  • School transportation is cancelled, however, all schools, child care centres, adult education programs and administrative buildings of the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board are open today, Friday, Feb. 4, 2022.

Hamilton Public board, HWDSB

  • Transportation is cancelled from significant snow accumulation, drifting snow, and icy road conditions underneath the snow, especially in rural areas. All remote, eLearning, child care, and in-person learning is cancelled today, Feb 4. All schools and admin. buildings are closed.

YWCA Hamilton

  • Due to inclement weather, all of our child care centres in Hamilton and Dunnville, as well as our before and after school programs, are closed again today.

YMCA Ham/Burl/Brant

  • With some schools remaining closed today, the following is an update on YMCA Child Care Programs: Brantford: Child Care Centres are closed. Burlington: Child Care Centres are open. Hamilton: Child Care Centres located within HWDSB schools are closed.

District School Board of Niagara

  • All transportation for is cancelled. However, schools are open Friday.

Niagara Catholic District School Board

  • All transportation is cancelled. However, schools are open Friday.

Grand Erie District School Board

  • All Grand Erie schools are closed and buses are cancelled today because of inclement weather. Optional asynchronous learning will be available.

Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board

  • Schools are closed. Students will have asynchronous learning activities posted on Brightspace class pages.

Community services

Darts Transit

  • DARTS is operating as usual today. Due to heavy snow, traffic is slower. Thank you for your patience.

City of Hamilton

  • The Keddy Access Trail is currently open.

Haldimand County

  • Curbside Collection is cancelled today (Friday). Affected residents are asked to hold onto their waste and recycling until next week, where they may put out double the weekly bag allowance.

Community

Hamilton Conservation Authority

  • HCA Woodend main office will be closed for the day, Feb. 4.The Conservation Areas are temporarily closed to allow staff to do snow clean up.

Norfolk County

It may be the second snow day in a row for Norfolk youngsters, but all County facilities and programs are open and running as normal, except for Ride Norfolk, which is cancelled due to weather.
