Hamilton police investigating pedestrian struck in downtown Dundas
Hamilton police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a 74-year-old woman struck by a vehicle on King Street West near Ogilvie Street in downtown Dundas on Saturday, Feb. 12.
The incident is at least the eighth time a Dundas pedestrian or cyclist was struck and injured in the past 21 months.
Police spokesperson Const. Indy Bharaj said the Feb. 12 collision occurred shortly before 11:30 a.m., as the pedestrian was apparently crossing the street. Bharaj said no charges had been laid as of Monday.
Shawn De Jager, assistant deputy chief of the Hamilton Fire Department, said firefighters responded and upon arrival found a female patient being tended to by Hamilton police and an off-duty nurse. The patient was transferred to the care of Hamilton paramedics.
Bharaj said the woman was taken to hospital, where it was determined her injuries were not life-threatening.
A 33-year-old Hamilton man was charged with stunt driving and failure to yield to pedestrians after striking two people crossing Market Street at King Street West in May 2020.
A 43-year-old Waterloo man was charged for failing to yield to a pedestrian after striking a 46-year-old woman crossing Osler Drive in July 2020.
A 27-year-old Hamilton man was charged after striking a cyclist, and leaving the scene, on Old Ancaster Road in September 2021.
A driver was charged with careless driving after striking three people in a Dundas parking lot in October 2021.
