Cardinals release Jordan Hicks
The Arizona Cardinals have cut linebacker Jordan Hicks after three seasons, the team announced Wednesday.
Hicks has started every game for the Cardinals since signing with them in 2019. However, Arizona spent its last two first-round picks on linebackers, drafting Zaven Collins last year and Isaiah Simmons in 2020.
With Hicks' release, Collins is set for an increase in playing time this season. He played just 20% of the team's defensive snaps during his rookie campaign.
Hicks racked up 116 tackles and four sacks over 17 games last season. It marked his third consecutive 100-plus-tackle campaign.
The veteran becomes the second high-profile linebacker from the NFC West to hit the open market after the Seattle Seahawks reportedly released Bobby Wagner on Tuesday.
