Campbell returns to Packers on 5-year, $50M pact
The Green Bay Packers are re-signing All-Pro linebacker De'Vondre Campbell to a five-year, $50-million contract, his agent told Bill Huber of Sports Illustrated.
Campbell enjoyed a breakout campaign with the Packers after arriving in Green Bay as a summertime signing. In 16 games, he posted 102 solo tackles and was impactful in coverage and against the run.
Campbell played four seasons for the Arizona Cardinals and one campaign for the Atlanta Falcons before heading to Green Bay in 2021. While he was always a reliable tackler, Campbell struggled in other areas in both Atlanta and Arizona.
The Packers entered the offseason uncertain about their ability to retain Campbell in light of their salary cap issues. Green Bay released standout edge rusher Za'Darius Smith at the onset of free agency for financial reasons and might need to cut costs elsewhere to get under the cap.
