It’s March break and here’s what you can expect from the weather

Hamilton could see a couple of very promising spring days mid-week during March break.

Before you firm up your daily plans, here's what you can expect over the break from Monday to Friday.

Environment Canada's forecast over the school holiday includes a mix of everything. Colder days with snow and rain will transition to sunny and warm days, then a little more rain will be heading in before Friday.

Monday started out cloudy and on the cooler side with a high of 7 C and wind gusts to about 40 km/h. Rain is expected to settle in overnight with a low of 1 C.

Tuesday is a swing day with a 60 per cent chance of snow or rain and a high of 6 C before the afternoon is over. The skies are expected to clear overnight into Wednesday.

What we're all waiting for is expected to arrive in the Hamilton area on Wednesday and Thursday, according to the weather service website. Daytime highs of 15 to 16 C and sunny skies are expected.

The Weather Network is saying in its forecast that it could be the warmest St. Patrick's Day in over 10 years. Double digits in the mid-teens and clear sunny skies are forecast on both days.

Normal temperatures for the middle of March are between 4 C and -5 C.

Friday should see showers return and a high again of 7 C.
