Jaguars release Myles Jack

The Jacksonville Jaguars released linebacker Myles Jack, the team announced Tuesday.

Jacksonville will save $8.35 million by cutting the 26-year-old, according to Over The Cap.

The AFC South club was the biggest early spender as the legal tampering period of free agency opened Monday.

The Jaguars reportedly agreed to sign former Atlanta Falcons linebacker Foyesade Oluokun to a three-year deal worth $45 million, freeing the team up to move on from Jack.

Jack signed a four-year, $57-million extension in August 2019 after a strong beginning to his NFL career. While he continued to rack up tackles, he failed to live up to his contract as the Jaguars' defense lost an array of key players.

The 2016 second-round pick was the lone remaining member of the standout defense that led Jacksonville to the AFC Championship Game during the 2017 season.

Jack will join a free-agent linebacker class that also includes Bobby Wagner, Leighton Vander Esch, and Dont'a Hightower.
