Report: McKissic spurns Bills to rejoin Commanders

Running back J.D. McKissic will re-sign with the Washington Commanders after backing out of his deal with the Buffalo Bills, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

McKissic will rejoin the Commanders on a two-year, $7-million contract - the same deal he intended to sign in Buffalo, Schefter adds.

Washington didn't submit an offer to keep McKissic until he had an agreement in place with the Bills, which prompted his reversal, his agents told Schefter.

The 28-year-old is the second free agent to have a change of heart about their destination this offseason after pass-rusher Randy Gregory, who opted out of his contract with the Dallas Cowboys to join the Denver Broncos.

McKissic is set to return to his role as a pass-catching option out of the backfield. He reeled in 123 receptions for 986 yards over his two-year stint with the Commanders.

His 48 carries last season ranked fourth on the team, trailing Antonio Gibson (258), Jaret Patterson (68), and Taylor Heinicke (60).
