The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and wide receiver Chris Godwin agreed to a new three-year, $60-million contract that includes $40 million guaranteed, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The two sides had been working on an extension but weren't able to reach an agreement before the franchise tag deadline on March 8. Godwin earned $15.98 million while playing on the franchise tag last year, and he would cost $19.18 million playing on the tag for a second straight season.

Godwin led Tampa Bay with 98 receptions and 1,103 yards in 2021 despite tearing his ACL in Week 15. The 26-year-old, who's topped 1,000 receiving yards in two of the last three campaigns, also caught five touchdowns last year.

A third-round pick in 2017, the Penn State product earned his first Pro Bowl nod in 2019 after setting career highs with 1,333 yards and nine touchdown catches.

Godwin's new $20-million average annual salary ties him with Mike Williams and Amari Cooper for the fourth-highest in the NFL, according to Spotrac.

Mike Evans and Godwin have offered the Buccaneers one of the NFL's top receiving duos in recent years. In 2022, the two will have a new teammate in wideout Russell Gage, who signed with Tampa Bay this offseason after spending time with the Atlanta Falcons.
