Rams reward Stafford with 4-year extension worth reported $160M
Quarterback Matthew Stafford has signed a four-year contract extension with the Los Angeles Rams, the team announced Saturday.
The deal is worth $160 million and includes $135 million guaranteed, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Stafford is now tied to the Rams for the next five years at $183 million, Schefter adds.
Los Angeles decided to reward Stafford with a lucrative contract after he helped the team win Super Bowl LVI last season.
Stafford, who spent his first 12 NFL campaigns with the Detroit Lions, tossed a Rams single-season record 4,886 yards and 41 touchdowns against 17 interceptions in 2021 while posting a 12-5 record to help the team win its first division title since 2018.
The 34-year-old also passed for nine touchdowns during the postseason, including three in the Super Bowl victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.
L.A. acquired Stafford in a trade with the Lions in March 2021 in exchange for a package including quarterback Jared Goff and two first-round picks.
Stafford, who became football's highest-paid player at the time after inking a massive extension in 2017, once again has signed one of the most lucrative contracts in the NFL:
