Report: Seahawks bring back Penny on 1-year, $5.75M deal
The Seattle Seahawks are bringing back running back Rashaad Penny.
Seattle and Penny have agreed to terms on a one-year, $5.75-million contract that carries a maximum value of $6.5 million, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Penny, 26, enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2021. He rushed for career highs with 749 yards, 6.9 yards per carry, and six scores in 10 games.
The native of California missed most of the 2020 season due to a knee injury.
Seattle selected Penny in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. The San Diego State product rushed for 419 yards and two touchdowns while averaging 4.9 yards per carry as a rookie in 2018.
Penny will reunite with Chris Carson in the Seahawks' backfield next season, but it's unclear who will be under center after Seattle traded Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos earlier in March.
