The Edmonton Oilers acquired forward Derick Brassard from the Philadelphia Flyers for a 2023 fourth-round pick, the team announced Monday.

Brassard is a pending unrestricted free agent. He signed a one-year, $825,000 contract with the Flyers this past offseason.

Philadelphia is retaining 50% of Brassard's salary.

The 34-year-old should slot in seamlessly at center in the Oilers' bottom six.

Brassard has registered 16 points in 31 games this season while averaging 14 minutes of ice time per night. He has 519 points in 936 contests for his career and has appeared in 117 playoff games.

The acquisition is Edmonton's second depth addition of the trade deadline after acquiring blue-liner Brett Kulak from the Montreal Canadiens.
