Free-agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is open to possibly returning to the Cleveland Browns, a source told Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.

It's unclear whether the Browns, who recently traded for wideout Amari Cooper, are interested in bringing Beckham back.

Beckham and Cleveland parted ways after two-plus seasons midway through the 2021 campaign due to the receiver's tumultuous relationship with quarterback Baker Mayfield. However, Mayfield's imminent departure from Cleveland would clear the way for a potential Beckham return, Cabot notes.

Mayfield recently asked for a trade in the wake of Cleveland's acquisition of Deshaun Watson. The Browns traded for Watson on Friday and reportedly gave him a fully guaranteed five-year, $230-million contract.

In November, the relationship between Beckham and the Browns reached a crossroads when Beckham's father reposted a video montage of his son open in coverage and Mayfield either missing on throws or not looking in his direction.

Cleveland then agreed to release Beckham, who eventually signed a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Rams.

The 29-year-old racked up 114 receptions for 1,586 yards and seven touchdowns through 29 appearances with the Browns.

In L.A., the three-time Pro Bowler appeared in only eight regular-season games, totaling 305 yards and five touchdowns on 27 catches. The LSU product was also a key contributor for the Rams in their Super Bowl run.

Though Beckham suffered a torn ACL in Super Bowl LVI, Los Angeles remains interested in re-signing him.
