Halton police hunting for suspects in Oakville shooting, carjacking
Halton Regional Police are hunting three armed suspects who investigators say should be considered "armed and dangerous" after a shooting and carjacking in an Oakville neighbourhood Wednesday (March 30).
"If you observe the vehicle or suspects, call 9-1-1 immediately," Halton police said in a news release Wednesday, March 30.
Halton police say the investigation has determined that the victim was approached by the suspects while he was in his garage in the area of Bridge Road and Lees Lane early Wednesday.
The suspects assaulted the victim and stole the keys to the vehicle, police said.
One of the suspects was armed with a handgun and fired several rounds towards the home, police said.
The victim sustained minor injuries as the suspects fled the scene in the stolen Audi, along with a dark coloured Porsche SUV.
"Investigators believe the victim was followed home by the suspects and targeted for his vehicle," Halton police said. "Area residents can expect a continued police presence as the investigation continues."
The stolen vehicle is described as a 2017 Audi RS7, 4 door, blue, bearing Ontario licence plate CPYH544.
Two of the three suspects are young men in their 20s, wearing black hoodies and black sweatpants.
The incident sent shockwaves in the neighbourhood, with some residents concerned and fearful about the violence.
Anyone with information or who may have witnessed this incident is asked to contact the Detective Blair Bolton of the 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4747 ext. 2218.
