UPDATE: Hamilton police say no safety concerns after speaking with person who allegedly offered student ride
Hamilton police say they've made contact with a person reported to have offered a ride to a student walking to an east-end school and there are no longer safety concerns.
Police sent out a media release around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday about a suspicious person" who allegedly offered a ride to a student who was walking to St. Luke's Catholic Elementary School on Albright Road that morning. The woman was driving a black SUV and child kept walking.
Police said they were investigating and would have officers in the area Thursday morning.
However, less than two hours later police issued an update saying there was no longer a concern.
As a result of this media release Hamilton police have made contact with the involved party in this matter," police said. After speaking with them Hamilton police have determined there are no concerns for the safety of the public or schools as a result of this incident."
