Hamilton police have issued an arrest warrant for the man they allege was behind the wheel of a vehicle that struck and killed a pedestrian on the Hamilton Mountain earlier this month.

Shortly after 2 a.m. on April 8, police were called to the area of Upper Wentworth Street, between Kingfisher Drive and the Lincoln Alexander Parkway, for a pedestrian who had been hit on the road.

The victim, later identified as Glen Clark, had been struck by a southbound vehicle, which left the scene. A passerby had called 911 after finding Clark.

The 42-year-old Hamilton man was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition and later died of his injuries. The suspect vehicle was located on April 9, according to police.

In a press release Friday evening, police alleged the suspect driver in the fatal collision as Omar Bataineh, 37, of Hamilton.

Police said his current location is unknown and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. Bataineh is wanted on charges of failing to remain at a collision causing death.

Anyone with information regarding Bataineh's whereabouts is encouraged to contact Det. Const. Wesley Wilson at 905-546-4753.
