The 24-year-old missed Game 4 on Sunday while on the COVID list. He played in Game 3 on Friday.
The NHL stopped testing asymptomatic players after the All-Star break. The league's policy states that players who test positive must isolate for five days and can be cleared anytime after that if they retest negative and are asymptomatic.
Here's my understanding of the McAvoy situation: can play if he is 5 days from symptom onset, plus a negative test and medical clearance. Assuming symptom onset was last Thursday...he could be cleared to play. https://t.co/qTdeTew17Y

McAvoy led all Bruins skaters in average ice time (24:39) and all of Boston's defensemen with 56 points during the regular season.
