The two-time defending Stanley Cup champions are one loss away from having their season end.
The Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-3 in Game 5 on Tuesday to take a 3-2 lead in the series.
The Leafs trailed 2-0 after a dismal first period but came from behind to earn the victory.
Auston Matthews scored the game-winning goal with six minutes left in the contest via a shot-pass off Andrei Vasilevskiy's pad from Mitch Marner during a two-on-one rush.
Toronto will look to secure its first playoff series victory since 2004 in Thursday's Game 6 in Tampa Bay.
