Police ask for help in identifying Dunnville’s ‘Baby Doe’
The Ontario Provincial Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the remains a young girl found in Dunnville's Grand River on Tuesday.
In a Friday news release, the OPP said the little girl was of an age approximately between 10 and half months and two and half years. They are asking for anyone with information about her in Dunnville or elsewhere to come forward.
In the release, police say they are looking for information about a family with a little girl, who may have left town suddenly or moved away under circumstances that could now be considered suspicious."
An autopsy was conducted Thursday at the Forensic Services and Coroner's Complex in Toronto and additional tests are being ordered. Police have not disclosed the cause of her death.
The remains were found in the water of the northeast corner of Dunnville's main island, just east of the dam. At the time of the discovery, police pegged the girls age as being between one and four years old.
On Wednesday, police searched the river area near where the body was found and canvased nearby neighbourhoods.
Police are asking anyone with information to call the OPP tip line at 1-844-677-9403 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or www.helpsolvecrime.com.
