Devin White: Bucs have 'Super Bowl or nothing' mentality
Linebacker Devin White says it's "Super Bowl or nothing" next season for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
"I'll say it in front of all the cameras," White said following Wednesday's OTA session. "That's the only goal. That's what we want, and that's what we're after. We know we're not there yet. It's a long season; it's a long way to go. But that's what we're fighting for."
White added that the Bucs need to get over the hump against the Los Angeles Rams after losing two games last season to the eventual Super Bowl champions.
L.A. beat Tampa Bay 30-27 in the NFC divisional round to end the Bucs' bid for a second consecutive Super Bowl appearance. The NFC South club has beaten the Rams just once in its previous five matchups, with the lone win occurring during the 2019 regular season.
White said losing to the Rams took a long time to get over because he felt the winner would likely win the Super Bowl. However, the defender added that he's using last year's defeat as "fuel to the fire" to return to the sport's biggest stage.
The 2021 Pro Bowler also said he spoke with head coach Todd Bowles about Tampa Bay's losses in 2021, which includes falling to division rival New Orleans Saints.
The 24-year-old defender said he's focused on improving last season's weaknesses. The Bucs are poised to resume their Super Bowl ambitions following Tom Brady's return after the quarterback briefly retired this offseason.
Tampa's defensive unit allowed 92.5 rushing yards per game (third in the NFL) in 2021 while allowing 20.8 points per contest.
