Linc closure pushed back to Friday
Drivers are being warned of heavy traffic this weekend due to the closure of the Lincoln M. Alexander Parkway.
For three days starting Friday, the Linc will be closed in both directions as the city completes maintenance work, the City said in a release.
The eastbound lanes will be closed from Golf Links Road to the Upper Red Hill Valley Parkway off-ramp from Friday at 10 a.m. until Monday at 7 p.m., while the westbound lanes will be closed from the Red Hill Valley Parkway to Mohawk Road from Friday at 10 a.m. until Monday at 4 a.m.
Access to Highway 403 on-ramps and the Rousseaux Street off-ramp will remain open with access from the Golf Links Road/Mohawk Road on-ramps, the city said.
The maintenance includes spot resurfacing and asphalt repairs, bridge and signage repairs, pavement markings, ditching, catch basin cleaning, and vegetation maintenance, the city said.
Initially slated to start Thursday, maintenance on the Linc was delayed by a day to accommodate rain forecast to start Thursday evening, the city said.
In the case of weather-related changes in the road work plans, updates will be posted at hamilton.ca/lincmaintenance and on Twitter at @CityofHamilton.
Residents in the area can expect an increase in traffic throughout the closure and are warned to give themselves extra time for travel.
