Colin Kaepernick's workout with the Las Vegas Raiders was positive, but a deal is not imminent at this point, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

The free-agent quarterback worked out for the Raiders on Wednesday. It was his first official workout with a team since his last NFL appearance in 2016.

Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels was coy Thursday when asked about Kaepernick's session.

"(General manager) Dave (Ziegler) and his staff have worked out tons of guys this spring, and we really don't make comments about the evaluations that we made or what they looked like, what they didn't look like, strengths and weaknesses, those kind of things," McDaniels said.

Kaepernick petitioned his services to NFL clubs following a throwing exhibition at a Michigan spring game earlier this offseason. He also said he would be open to a backup job.

The 34-year-old last played for the San Francisco 49ers during the 2016 campaign when he began kneeling during the U.S. national anthem to protest police brutality and racial injustice.

Kaepernick compiled a 28-30 record in six years with the 49ers from 2011-16 and led the team to one Super Bowl appearance.
