Hamilton man stabbed in alleyway altercation
Hamilton police are investigating a stabbing that happened when the victim confronted someone trying to jump into his backyard Monday night.
Emergency services were called to Crosthwaite Avenue North, a residential street northeast of Kenilworth Avenue North and Main Street East, shortly after 11:30 p.m. May 30 for a 43-year-old man who had been stabbed. The victim suffered a four-inch, non-life-threatening laceration.
The victim told police he was in his backyard when he noticed someone attempting to jump over his back fence, said Const. Indy Bharaj. The victim jumped over the fence into an alleyway and confronted the suspect.
The pair got into a verbal altercation that became physical, police said. The victim attempted to kick the suspect and then the victim was stabbed.
The suspect fled the area before police arrived. He and the victim did not know each other.
