A man and woman face multiple firearm charges after Hamilton police allegedly found a sawed-off shotgun in a stolen car.

The pair were arrested on the night of Wednesday, June 1, by the Hamilton police BEAR (break, enter, auto theft and robbery) unit.

Police said the vehicle was spotted in the area of Fennell Avenue East and Upper Gage Avenue. Detectives followed until it stopped and both people were arrested.

When police searched the vehicle they allegedly found a sawed-off shotgun and part of an assault style rifle.

A 50-year-old Hamilton man and 34-year-old Hamilton woman face charges, including possession of the stolen vehicle and multiple firearms offences.

They remain in custody.
