Cause of large fire at Stoney Creek recycling plant remains unknown

The cause and damages of a large industrial fire at a Stoney Creek recycling plant Tuesday night remain unknown.

Hamilton fire crews responded to Wasteco at 306 Lake Ave. N. around 11:25 p.m. for reports of a structure fire.

The department said over email crews were met with heavy flames inside the plant along with a large burning pile of garbage. The blaze was contained to the property, they said.

Crews remained on scene for several hours.
