A routine traffic stop of a man reportedly asleep at the wheel led Hamilton police to seize a cache of drugs Tuesday afternoon.

Police said in a release that the seizures came after a call from a citizen who reported a driver asleep in his 2016 Dodge Journey. The driver was stopped in the area of Barton Street East and Rosslyn Avenue North.

Investigators found 42 grams of cocaine, 32 grams of fentanyl and 23 grams of methamphetamine in the car, police said, along with some money and evidence that suggests drug trafficking.

A 29-year-old Hamilton man was arrested and faces nine charges, including three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, proceeds of crime over $5,000 and driving while under suspension.
